Podcast VAs act as support for the podcast host. They do whatever related to podcasting they can, from social media management to researching topics on Wikipedia. Podcast VAs might also book guests and record podcasts. Podcasts are a growing form of entertainment and a lucrative industry for those who choose to be part of it. Podcast listeners number over 55 million in the US alone! This is especially great news for anyone looking for an at-home job because many people listen to podcasts while commuting or doing chores around the house. Podcasts cover many different genres, so there is something for everyone on this platform. New ones are being created every day, meaning that there is always an opportunity to be involved in the booming world of podcasting.

Here are some of the tasks you would do as a Podcast VA:

– Manage the social media accounts of a podcast or its hosts

– Create show notes for podcasts, edit photos and videos as needed. Also write press releases about upcoming shows on behalf of the Podcast host

– Find possible guests to interview on Podcasts

– Help Podcast hosts create content for their podcasts, such as images

– Hype Podcasts on social media, answering questions and posting updates to Facebook or Twitter

How much does a podcast assistant make

This side gig can be lucrative in the right circumstances. Podcast VAs are often paid by the hour. Podcasting is not necessarily an industry that pays well; however, the opportunity to work from home with flexible hours makes it worth doing if you have an interest in this field. Some Podcast VAs may create their own podcasting businesses, which helps them maximize profits.

The pay scale will depend on your skills and how much work you can handle each week. Podcast VAs are typically paid per hour, usually between $10 and $15 dollars an hour. If work is steady enough, you can earn more than this amount every week. Some Podcast Hosts also offer a small fee if their Podcast reaches a certain number of downloads within a given period of time. This means that your hard work could bring an extra bonus.

How do I become a virtual assistant online

Podcast VAs can decide to become Podcast VAs in a couple of ways. One way is by finding Podcasts that are hiring virtual assistants and applying for the job. Another option is to create your own Podcast business, working with Podcast Hosts as a Podcast VA so you can set your price per hour. If you choose this path, be sure to advertise yourself on social media or other advertising channels. This will help you find Podcast Hosts who need your services!

Creating your own podcasting business might also entail some costs, such as website hosting fees and purchasing equipment for recording podcasts (microphones, etc). Consider this carefully before setting up your Podcast Virtual Assistant business.

Podcasting is an industry that has its own culture and Podcast Hosts love to talk about Podcasting with one another. Podcast VAs are welcome in Podcast Podcast Host groups as well, and many Podcast virtual assistants get their work from networking within these closed groups.

For me, I learn by doing so reach out to podcasters and offer your services free of charge. Show them how good you are at editing their podcast and setting up the images and social media posts to go with it. Create a package to return to them with everything they need to upload their content and move on. Then see if this is a service they would like to try out.

Three Step Plan to Create and Grow your Podcast Virtual Assistant Business

I have learned that one thing about working on virtual jobs is that the proof is in the work. Anyone can claim to be an expert in a field and then produce documents to prove it. The customer has no idea if it’s true or not. So I have used this three step plan in just about all of my side hustles including podcast virtual assistant.

Become an Expert Podcast Virtual Assistant

To become an expert you have a few options. The first which I never use is to look online and buy a course or join a course that will teach you how to do it. These usually have some type of bootcamp and come with templates to get you started. They don’t guarantee that you will get work but it is written in a way that says you will do great. I have no idea if you will or not I just don’t go down this path because the price is always higher than I want to pay and there are so many free resources out there. If you search for how to become a podcast virtual assistant I am sure you will find whatever the course is of the month. If you try it let me know in the comments if it worked for you.

The second way is take courses on Udemy. This is the method I use the most. At first glance you will say wait a minute why would I pay hundreds of dollars for courses on Udemy instead of just joining the one I found when I searched for podcast virtual assistant course? I never pay more then $20 on a Udemy course. When you sign up you can get your first course on sale and then every few weeks they offer discounts. So just find the courses you want and grab them when they are on sale. These courses have helped me create multiple online business and help me become a successful work form home dad.

The final option to become an expert is Youtube. Just search the how to videos and learn everything you need to know. A good way to do this is to write down everything that you think you need to learn and start searching how to ” ” enter the word from what you are looking for. If you are not sure what you need to know then look at the course catalogs on Udemy and then search for each item they are teaching.

On The Job Training

The second step in the process of the create and grow your podcast virtual assistant side hustle is to take what you have learned and use it. You are now an expert and need to show it….. or practice so you can really be the expert you are claiming to be.

I would get in touch with any podcast I could offering to help them with whichever part of the Podcast process you are trying to get good at. If for example it’s the audio editing and social media post then offer to edit their next podcast for them free of charge, let them know you are trying to build your portfolio and would love to help.

Once you get a few bites go over and beyond. Put together great work and really kill it as if this was the best paying job you ever had. Then give it to them yep I said give it to them. Tell them thanks for letting you grow your portfolio and if they ever need help in the future let you know.

Land the Gig

Im not going to say that every free job you perform will land you a gig but a small percent will. In the end what you will find is that your portfolio has grown and when someone asks to see your work you can really show them your expertise. The next thing you will find is that you will gain a few customers from the free work. This will either be them directly or from word of mouth and they will sell your good work for you. Either way you will have gone from zero experience to an expert with a portfolio and a few paying gigs to get you going.

Conclusion

Podcast Virtual Assistants are in high demand these days due to the popularity of podcasts. They can make anywhere from $10,000-$35,000 a year depending on their experience and how much time they devote to it. The best way to become one is by taking courses at Udemy or watching Youtube videos about podcasting for beginners. Once you have learned everything that you need to know about virtual assistantship, try your hand out as one with any podcast willing to give you an opportunity. You will be surprised who hires you! Do not forget even if there is no pay involved, this could lead to future opportunities down the line where somebody might want help editing their Podcasts because after all practice makes perfect!
